Sri Prabha

Sri Prabha is an emerging artist whose evocative, and dynamic, yet meditative abstractions connect the viewer to the interplay of the forces in nature. His mixed media works explore the forces behind nature by using a robust variety of materials and parallel processes found in nature. Materials including acrylics, gouache, cut papers, synthetic resins, gold and silver leaf, various metals, and plant debris are scraped, sanded, or blow torched as inspired.

Sri immigrated to the US as a child and eventually found the freedom to pursue a career in the arts. Sri graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a major in Painting, and has a Masters in Psychology. He has also attended Mass Art and Cal Arts, taken printing workshops at CCSF in San Francisco, and digital printing at Kala Institute in Berkeley. Sri had worked in Motion Graphics and video art in San Francisco until 2006. He appears in the September 2006 issue of American Photo magazine as winner for the Ford Motion in Drive contest. He has also shared his technical and creative expertise by teaching at Film Arts Foundation and Expression Center for Digital Arts.

Since receiving his Masters in Psychology in 2005, Sri has returned to primarily painting. He has shown at the Toronto Art Fair, The Art Explosion Studios in San Francisco, in juried shows at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, Maryland, and is scheduled to show at the Ratner Museum in Bethesda, Maryland. His works are in several private collections nationally and he is currently working on paintings influenced by his trips from 2007 to 2008 in Vietnam, Thailand, India, Sweden, and Denmark.
