Creating is an integral part of my life. It is what moves and shapes it – stretches my being, imagination, augments my perspective and shows me that keen observation is necessary to see, feel, hear, smell, taste and be in constant connection with my intuition at all times. With each creation, I learn something new, whether it is an expansion of perception, an experience or feeling revealed, a new technique discovered or an intimate connection made. For me, creating mosaic is serendipitous. It is much like life. Pieces come together in the most unusual ways. This process opens doors to my mind’s eye, showing me the many aspects of myself that make me whole, the sum of the parts that connect me to a greater Essence.
As a non-traditionalist, I keep my approach simple, allowing the childlike nature of curiosity and creativity to come forth with ease. I then allow an artwork to evolve. If there is one thing I know, the initial idea always changes in the process of Creation. In the end, my artwork speaks in metaphor. It is expressionistic at best, taking on many forms while combining archetypes in a contemporary format. It is a study of relationships by innate design.
For me, art is a dialogue that is created between the artist and herself and the artist and the world. With a big imagination, perseverance, curiosity and love, a mosaic is born.
